 As an AVID elementary school, we believe all students will achieve their full academic potential through student-centered classrooms, standards based instruction and targeted interventions in a caring, safe, and collaborative learning environment.

History:
Originally founded in 1923, the school was called Independiente School and was located at 9127 Indiana Avenue. In 1959, the school was rebuilt and renamed Hawthorne Elementary School.

Our new facility, located at 2700 Irving Street, was completed in January 2008. Hawthorne is now fully equipped with SmartBoards, ceiling-mounted projectors, wireless access, and student devices at all grades, Hawthorne offers a strong learning program supported by online resources and extensive technology hardware for students and teachers.
